Does Blogger Count Your Own Views in Stats? How to Stop it

When I first started a blog I would marvel at how quickly I was gaining readers. The blog had only a few posts and already hundreds of views had appeared. I was constantly updating and posting and watching the traffic soar and soar, then I took a few days off. Suddenly no-one was reading the blog, I couldn't understand where the 50+ readers a day had gone. Until it dawned on me that I was my entire audience - the stats were nonsense.

So one of the first things you should do when you start a blog you should stop Blogger tracking your own blog visits. This is very simple to do:

1. Go to your dashboard
2. From there find stats.
3. To the right of a graph you should see "Don't track my own page views" - click it
4. Check the "Don't track my pageviews" and the save.

However Blogger will only stop tracking views from this computer, so if you work on your blog on more than one computer Blogger will track the views from your other computer(s). This is because the system identifies you by browser.

      yes they did change it. after following the instructions above go under followers which is to the right side of the graph and then click manage tracking your own pageviews.

    I have two websites: Movies and Books World and Gardener's Word, and I find trying to stop blogger from counting my pages by the above method just doesn't work and never has despite my looking into it (cookies and all that). I like to use a gadget called Revolvermap from http://www.revolvermaps.com/ which gives me a good idea of where in the world my viewers are. I can see the location (not address, just area) where, for example, in California someone is who regularly checks out my websites. Although it does track me too, I can easily identify those who are not me. Check it out. I don't work for them or anything like that, don't worry.

    Thanks a lot , but one problem I'm facing is that I have this Gadget , a counter , on my blog...so everytime I refresh the page the count increases, despite doing what you mentioned above. The page view of the particular post are constant(in the Stats), but that counter is being a problem. Please Help.

    I already tried out the method, but the stat counter reverts back to count my own page view on its own and it starts counting my page visits. Many people are having this problem. I wonder why Blogger at all has the option. By default it ought to ignore self visits as no one would be interested in his own visits.

    The above information is outdated. Google messes up everything they touch, and Blogger/Blogspot has gone steadily downhill since they took over. First they disabled video posting and now they require tracking cookies to be enabled, so they have removed the checkbox that said "Don't track my own pageviews".

    Google arbitrarily replaced that checkbox with a "Manage tracking your own pageviews" link. While that link displays a "Don't track my views for this blog" checkbox, it is bogus. Checking it has no effect, since the linked page has no Enter or Apply button and neither F5 or leaving the page works either.

    This is very typical of the rat's-ass mentality of the low-grade Millennials that Google hires. They've made a mess of everything they touch. Blogger/Blogspot was a decent and workable system before Google stuck their noses into it. Google is taking over from MicroSoft as the outfit everybody loves to hate.

    Shortly after my last post revealing the workings of the don't track page, it miraculously began to work--but only for your current session. If you log back on with the same computer, the system defaults to tracking your own views.

    You see, Google has a mission to keep track of everything you do. The original "don't track my own views" button not only worked, it worked too well. It prevented Google from tracking everything you did and that is not consistent with their established protocol of profiling all their users. Read the fine print--everything you do with Google becomes their property, not yours. Privacy does not exist in the minds of Google, and that is why the Do Not Track feature is so problematical.

    Also, if you disable track your own views, you will get locked out of your account more often. Google does not protect or care about your account security--they only want your phone number. You cannot "opt out" of Google's protection racket. Their newest scam to get your phone number (from which everything you do can be tracked) is to make your security question display "too many tries" on the first entry.

    Google wants your phone number and doesn't like it when you disable your own views because it also disables them from watching your session. Wake up, people. It is a joke that Google "protects" your data when they should not be keeping it in the first place.
